Thank you for sending me the DVD.  It arrived last Friday and I’ve already watched it twice.  Darryl and his team have done another excellent job in putting this DVD together ( I have all his other CD’s plus all his books).

The newsletter is also a great educational tool.

Thanks for your help.

I'd be most appreciative if you could pass along to Daryl my congratulations for presenting 2 excellent seminars at the ATIC in Singapore this past weekend. I wasn't planning on spending my weekend attending classes, but when I noticed that Daryl was one of the featured presenters, I had to make the commitment to attend the conference.

I am one of Daryl's more long-distance fans as I watch his "chartman" analysis on CNBC after my work day here in Los Angeles. I was particularly impressed with his power point presentation highlighting ETF's and hope to incorporate his suggested strategies in my future trading planning.

If Daryl ever decides to conduct any West Coast USA seminars, I'll be the first to sign up!!

TRADE STRATEGIES AND TRADE STRATEGY EXAMPLES

TRADE STRATEGIES
Well constructed searches or explorations make it easy to find opportunities. The search conditions are put into a formula, and then the data base of stocks is scanned to find stocks that are consistent with the search conditions. The list is then examined to select the best opportunities. All of this begs the question of what to search for.

MA CROSSOVER
For MetaStock we use a simple crossover exploration that identifies stocks where the crossover has developed on the last day of trading data. If we apply this search it throws up many stocks that will fail to develop so its useful to extend the look back period. We find all stocks where there crossover has developed in the past 5 days.

How do we weed out failed crossovers? The situation where the moving average crossover takes place, but then the rally fails. This is why we use a 5 day look back period because it allows some price activity to develop. This will provide a group of stocks that have between 1 and 5 days of development after the breakout. It could be a large list, so the next task is to reduce the list size.

SEARCH SEQUENCE
1 - adjust dead days indicator for the current date
2 - run the DeadDays exploration
3 - run the Liquidity exploration
4 - run MA crossover exploration
5 - run MA close separation exploration
6 - visually assess charts.

VISUALLY ASSESS CHARTS.
Just because the charts are in the final list it does not mean these are trading candidates. Each chart must be inspected and assessed. Sometimes its very simple. This stock meets all the requirements, but clearly this is not a developing breakout. It is quickly rejected. The red line is the 10 EMA

TRADE STRATEGY EXAMPLES

VAH – case study example trade added to newsletter Feb 10
The CBL is adjusted to $0.405. At 32% or better profit some traders will take profits. For this case study we continue to use the CBL as the trade management method. This is an excellent trade using a simple trade identification approach. No other changes in management are required.

This trade was added as a result of a trade plan with five rules.
• Trade long with a 10 and 30 day moving average crossover
• Confirm breakout with a count back line
• Trade liquid stocks
• Place stop loss order when order is confirmed
• Add to winning positions.
This trading plan shows that plans do not have to be complex. This is a robust plan that is suitable for many different types of stocks and for many market conditions.

CBA put warrant* – case study example trade added March 2 newsletter
This case study trade in CBA* was closed as consolidated near $47.65 on Wednesday after gapping down. Unlike a CFD trade, there is a time decay penalty paid for holding onto the warrant. For case study purposes this trade was closed at $0.285. This delivered a 78% profit.

This chart shows a strong well established downtrend line. There is a higher probability price will retreat from the downtrend line. When price moves to the downtrend line it’s a low risk short trade opportunity. For case study purposes we add this trade example as the price moves towards the downtrend line. Our preference is to use a put warrant because this will magnify the returns. The stop loss is a move above the value of the downtrend line.
We look for a warrant that is just out of the money. The warrant price will increase steadily as the price moves towards the exercise price. We also look for a 3 to 6 week expiry date. This is designed as a short term trade, so the impact of time decay is reduced and even more so as the price moves towards the exercise price. A move above the trend line is an exit signal.
The trigger points on this warrant straddle the current value of the trend line. That is, the price that triggers a shift from $0.16 to $0.15 is higher than the value of the trend line. The concept of trigger prices which cause changes in the warrant price was discussed in recent warrant trading articles. Entry is managed by trading with the market maker. These methods and issues are also covered in a new warrant trading DVD which will be released soon.
